Chapter 5
The Bitch on the Line
She holds the boundary you keep meaning to set.
No raised voice required.

The bitch stood perfectly still. That made everyone nervous. The Bulldogs shifted their weight. The Pit Bulls watched the exits.
The Labrador reviewed contingency plans. The bitch blinked once. Nobody relaxed.
Calm Is Not Comfort
People often mistake silence for agreement. Patience for weakness.
Stillness for inactivity. The bitch benefits from all three errors.
When louder dogs argued, she listened. When faster dogs rushed, she observed.
After everyone else loudly announced their intentions, she quietly made plans.
The difference mattered. By the time the room realized something was happening, the bitch was finished.
