Every Bitch Has Her Way

The Book

Introduction

Meet the Bitch

Sixteen breeds.

One uncomfortable mirror.

She starts here.

A poodle in sunglasses and pearls at a marble desk above the Manhattan skyline

The white poodle arrived ten minutes late. Not very late. Just late enough.

She paused outside the café and surveyed the block.

A dachshund relocated from a sunny spot. A terrier abandoned a fire hydrant. A bulldog discovered something fascinating across the street.

The poodle seemed unsurprised.

She selected a table in the sun. Not because it was empty. Because it was hers.

At least that was the impression. Good bitches create impressions.

She sat for a while. Watching. Not doing much. Which is different from doing nothing.

A few blocks away — or a few thousand miles — a Border Collie was herding sheep. A Chihuahua was running a boardroom.
